If you don't like the chase camera in the PC version, you can customize it by editing the Game.exe (1.66 MB): Offset 0009E66B: angle (4-byte float, 1.0 by default) Offset 0009E687: distance from the car (4-byte float, 1.0 by default) Offset 0009E860: vertical position (4-byte integer, 1024 by default) Offset 000A041D: zoom (4-byte float, 384 by default) NOTE: Decreasing zoom may cause clipping issues. In my recent widescreen fix I've changed the clipping instruction to access a value from *00147064* offset.

iirc the "You can not drive the car when the engine is on fire" is only because the damage is full, otherwise it's just a visual effect that doesn't change anything to the car

What, no bandit pursuers? In PS1 version, they are a legitimate threat (The President's Run, anyone?). In PC version, they're a minor inconvenience at best due to their tendency to flip while changing lanes while pursuing you. Not even turning, JUST CHANGING LANES. As for what they are at worst, I, for one, don't even care to count how many times I had to restart "Bait For A Trap" in particular due to the pursuer flipping while trying to pursue me from the get-go. You need to lead him to point B but you can't because he's turned over now, and if that's not annoying, I don't know what is. TL;DR: bandits in Driver PC SUCK compared to PS1.

Does this game have some serious frame rate issues when played on a PS2 for anyone else? I found this game and tried to play it the other night, but it's unplayable in certain missions because it bogs down hard on my console.

3:29 - So there's kinda a reason why the boats in the PS1 game are solid. Before the release, Driver originally had a 'drowning' system where the water could wreck your car. You could only drive so far but in some cases you could get to a boat before 'Game Over' triggered.

Great comparison video. I'd say the PS1 3rd person camera looks better on older screens too. Seeing all that road behind your car is just wasted space on the PC camera. PS1 view is way, way better.

5:57 And the reason why that is, is the front ends texture quality is actually lower than psx's. Both games have the same texture quality (with a few exceptions where pc's is a bit higher). PC just has more colors per texture than PSX which makes it look higher quality.

I like both, PC version is what i played the most in my childhood but even then PS1 version has its charm.and despite being a bit simplier in most ways it feels more finished and stylized. It looks nicer for most part, despite PC versions attempt at being "HD" early 3D game.

Many of these things are result of Driver PC version being based on older build.of ps1 game and being stuck longer in development just to get to playable state. I think they just did not consider what was most likely late additions to PSX version. Focus was on making it unique and "more hi-detail".

All the cars in PS1 looks better. The water in PC is clear.

Here we are, showing how wacky the civilian cars drive in this 25 year old video game and they still drive more civilized than anybody on the road does today lol.

GTA V/Online's OG version, meaning PS3/X360 was the best. That was the time when GTA was respected series and not a blatant cash cow like today.

I remember this was the year that I first played GTA Online on Xbox One, until a few years later I lost the GTA V disk and I cannot risk paying for a virtual copy without permission, but now I changed over to PC, I still remember those good'ol times 😮‍💨😊🤘

Aaaaah you know how to retain my attention for 30 minutes. 😍 #23! J_O_N_N_Y, FinDNF, SMOOTH-JAY-D, HpGBOSSFLAME, SuPeRhErO and PagagaaienNeus among many other OG names were in there. Loved to see them again. There was a great variety of cars raced and sometimes "One-Make" literally meant the single model that was voted for in a circle haha. Even if it was metallic with Benny's wheels, we raced it. Look at that Comet Retro. The craziest part is some of those races are still familiar, like the rainy Nightshade race around that kidovey track, the COTM Fränken Stange race around Drubert's track of course and even that beige F620 race around most-C-wanted's or DJ_BIG_L's Sandy Shores track. We shared some of the best racing moments that year.

The good old days when people raced anything and clean racing existed.
